How to incorporate the healing factors of dental application blood concentrates for the dentist as leadership of the entire team.
Oklahoma Board of Dentistry approved for hygienist and dental assistant expanded duties certification.
From a single extraction to full mouth implant restorations, surgical success is defined by adequate healing. Yet, systemic health advisements have decreased preoperative antibiotic criteria and we are all seeking practical applications to dramatically reduce prescribing opioids. For the past several years Hopkins Dental Clinic has witnessed improvement in each of these areas since incorporating utilization of the patient’s own healing factors via platelet rich fibrin. Our patients reap the benefits of much shorter discomfort periods, greatly reduced discomfort severity, almost non-existent dry sockets, beautiful site recovery measured in 24-48 hours instead of weeks, and faster implant integration. Creating L-PRF is a process that we believe should become a standard option for surgical cases. Let us share how to improve wound care and reduce prescriptions dependency while earning glowing reviews from your patients via an FDA approved system.
This course satisfies the requirements of Oklahoma's expanded duties for hygienists and dental assistants as well as the dentist's supervisory capacity.

Digital technology brings unprecedented accuracy to dental diagnostics - but there is a definite learning curve to achieving optimization. Intraoral scanners, CBCT imaging, and photogrammetry allow comprehensive analyzation of implant surgeries before making the first incision. The advent of these digital tools allows fabrication of exacting surgical guides or the ability to free hand with confidence to place the optimal implant with precision. Dr. Hopkins will share how each type can be utilized independently and more impressively in unison for advanced surgical proficiency.

Tooth extraction is destructive in its nature. There is always remodeling and reshaping of the bony architecture following. Often, this destruction results in less than ideal structure to place implants, whether the implant is placed immediately or is delayed. This can lead to more complicated and expensive procedures to facilitate placement, compromised positioning, emergence profile or function of a successful implant restoration. Regardless of if restoring with implants, a conventional bridge, or complete denture, it is imperative to have proper osseous contours. Placement of autogenous or allograft bone material at the time of extraction enhances the viability for successful implant placement, future function, and increased esthetic appeal. We will discuss the bone growth process and the procedures necessary to successfully place graft materials when extracting teeth.

Implant treatment has become an everyday restorative option for missing or damaged teeth. The treatment is very predictable with a success rate of 95-98% . Precise surgical procedures are needed to achieve this success but it is equally, or perhaps more, important to fully analyze the particular situation. The clinician needs to know the overall medical condition as well as the specific conditions of the surgical site. We’ll discuss bone quality and quantity, architecture of the site and of course, the available prosthetic options.

Launching a new American Academy of Implant Dentistry Maxicourse is no small undertaking therefore we are taking a hiatus from a set schedule for the majority of our annual courses, but you are welcome to reach out if you have an interest.
Patients want teeth… and they want them now. Implant therapy is often the best solution for tooth replacement but usually has an extended time frame for completion. We always need to plan the treatment working backwards from the final restoration. We’ll discuss the different options for final restorations and when one choice may be more effective than others. The primary concern for many patients is what can be done during the healing phase to replace the tooth. Often this can be accomplished by fabricating an immediate provisional that is both esthetic and will train the gingival tissue to form a proper emergence profile for the final prosthetic. We’ll discuss the available options and fabricate an immediate provisional restoration with a hands-on session.

It is common to have insufficient bone volume following tooth extraction. This is particularly evident in the posterior maxilla due to pneumatization of the sinus cavity. Grafting of the maxillary sinus has become a common and predictable procedure for facilitating implant placement in the deficient posterior maxilla. You will learn the procedures to successfully perform both vertical and lateral grafting. Although the lateral approach is often necessary in the long-term edentulous space, gaining access through the osteotomy can save both you and your patient months of healing, possibly allowing for an immediate implant placement.

Conventional dentures remain an acceptable option, but if you ever dreamed of being a superhero, introduce overdentures to a mandibular denture wearer and dentistry is immediately elevated to a superpower. Patients facing edentulism do not want their “grandparent’s dentures”. The addition of implants to anchor a removable denture provides greater bite strength for a more efficient ability to chew. Greater retention provides confidence in speaking and laughter without fear of embarrassing slippage at a more affordable price than a fixed solution. Overdentures are an exciting combination of all the things you hope for in prosthodontics with the beauty of implantology. You will learn how to analyze the anatomy and precision treatment planning for placing multiple implants to function in unison. Dr. Hopkins will address the pros, cons, and when surgical guides are necessary, how to augment your traditional prosthodontic considerations, and troubleshooting throughout the process.
